TIP Puppies should not be allowed to become overweight as that may dispose them to obesity as adults. Obesity, the No. 1 nutritional disorder in dogs, can lead to problems such as diabetes and hypertension. If a puppy appears to be gaining excess weight, reduce the amount of food offered. Remember to split a young puppy's food into three smaller meals a day.
